H3C S5500V2-EI Series High-performance Converged Ethernet Switches


Developed independently by H3C on advanced hardware architecture and Commware V7 OS, the S5500V2-EI is a Layer 3 manageable Gigabit switch with high performance and high port density. It features hardware-based IPv4/IPv6 dual-stack wire-speed forwarding for smooth IPv6 migration.

Available with 10/100/1000BASE-T copper and 10GE SFP+ ports, it expands to 10GE SFP+ and 40GE QSFP+ via optional daughter cards. Deployable as desktop access switches or small enterprise core devices, it aggregates downstream access switches and uplinks to core via 10G/40G fiber or link aggregation for carrier and industry networks. Comprehensive management functions simplify equipment deployment and daily O&M.

S5500V2-EI comes with fixed 10GE and mixed Gigabit copper/fixed SFP ports to build non-blocking networks cost-effectively. Optional expansion slots accept various daughter cards including 40GE QSFP+, 10GE SFP+ and combo GE modules for flexible port scaling, protecting investment and cutting upgrade cost for core or aggregation deployment.

IRF2 (Intelligent Resilient Framework 2)

IRF2 virtualizes multiple physical switches into one logical device for unified administration:
  • Simplified management: Configure the whole stack via any single access port.
  • Optimized forwarding: Cross-device link aggregation replaces STP and shortens network convergence.
  • Hot-swappable expansion: New units join the stack without service outage.
  • Multi-layer redundancy: 1:N master backup for chassis, link aggregation for link reliability and real-time protocol backup.
  • Improved capacity: Total switching performance equals the aggregate capability of all stacked switches.


Comprehensive Security Control

Compatible with EAD and iMC system to integrate endpoint antivirus, patch management and access control into proactive full-network defense. It supports MAC/802.1X/Portal authentication plus binding of user account, IP, MAC, VLAN and port with dynamic policy delivery. Advanced VLAN-based ACL and uRPF defend against source IP spoofing; port isolation and secure MAC learning prevent intra-VLAN virus spread and unauthorized terminal access.

Multi-layer Security & Reliability

Hardware design includes hot-swappable AC/DC dual power supplies and redundant fans with temperature-based speed adjustment and fault alert. Rich link protection covers LACP, STP/RSTP/MSTP, Smart Link and RRPP; IRF2 1:N backup, ring stacking and cross-box link aggregation guarantee stable operation under heavy multi-service traffic.

Abundant QoS Policies

L2~L4 traffic classification based on MAC, IP, TCP/UDP port, protocol and VLAN; SP/WRR/SP+WRR queue scheduling and bidirectional port mirroring for traffic monitoring and troubleshooting.

Excellent Manageability

Equipped with Console, Micro USB and out-of-band Ethernet port; compliant with SNMPv1/v2/v3, iMC & OpenView. Administration options include CLI, Telnet, Web and SSH2.0 encryption. SPAN/RSPAN multi-port mirroring enables full traffic analysis to facilitate network optimization.
