At SUSECON in Prague, SUSE unveiled SUSE AI Factory with NVIDIA—a pre-validated enterprise AI suite streamlining deployment and management from local development to production. Built on SUSE AI and NVIDIA AI Enterprise, it caters to organizations building, regulating, and scaling AI workloads across edge sites, data centers, and public clouds, while maintaining strict data and infrastructure control.
The announcement frames SUSE AI Factory as a standardized enterprise AI software layer, not a standalone model or service. It integrates key NVIDIA components: NIM microservices, open Nemotron models, NeMo for agent development, Run:ai for GPU orchestration, NVIDIA Kubernetes Operators, OpenShell, and NemoClaw—using SUSE K3s for secure autonomous agent deployments.
SUSE designed the offering to solve a key enterprise AI challenge: moving from experimentation to production without excess complexity or compromised governance. Development teams test workloads in sandboxed environments, while platform teams manage deployments via Rancher or GitOps for large-scale rollouts. The goal is fewer disjointed tools and more repeatable deployments, even in air-gapped sites.
SUSE highlights three core platform focus areas: pre-validated blueprints to reduce integration work, zero-trust security (built on SUSE Rancher Prime and Linux Enterprise Server) for NVIDIA AI services, and deployment/lifecycle consistency from workstations to edge clusters. It also emphasizes digital sovereignty for organizations needing private infrastructure compliance with policies like the EU AI Act.
SUSE’s CTO Thomas Di Giacomo noted AI teams’ challenges, stressing the need to balance rapid innovation with security and auditability. He highlighted SUSE AI Factory as a comprehensive, secure, sovereign solution for current and future AI development.
NVIDIA’s VP of Enterprise Software John Fanelli noted accelerating enterprise AI adoption, emphasizing the need for compliant, secure infrastructure. Their partnership with SUSE delivers an open, comprehensive AI Factory meeting technical and regulatory standards.
SUSE AI Factory with NVIDIA is slated for release later this year.
Digital Sovereignty and Resilience
With the launch, SUSE released research on digital sovereignty and resilience. A survey of 309 IT leaders across five countries found 98% view sovereignty as a priority, but only 52% actively implement it—showing recognition outpaces inconsistent execution, especially as AI adoption accelerates.
Regional differences emerged: India leads with 62% active sovereignty investment, followed by Germany/Japan (57%), U.S. (52%), and France (39%). Sovereignty influences procurement—45% included it in RFPs, 42% in vendor selection—but 41% act only on external pressure, not internal readiness.
The survey links AI adoption to resilience: 64% say AI transparency (model training/origin visibility) will drive resilience over five years. Notably, most organizations would prioritize AI over sovereignty with a 20% budget increase, revealing a deployment-governance gap.
When defining digital resilience, respondents emphasized system control and recovery. Cybersecurity/threat detection (63%) led, followed by multi-cloud diversification (52%), backup/recovery (45%), and continuous monitoring (44%).
Hyperscalers remain relevant for sovereign workloads (65% of respondents), reflecting tension between cloud scale/convenience and enterprises’ need for jurisdictional control. This drives demand for open, portable infrastructure spanning environments without vendor lock-in.
SUSE says the findings confirm the need for infrastructure supporting both AI adoption and sovereignty, aligning with its broader portfolio (SUSE Linux, Rancher Prime, SUSE AI).
SUSE’s Navigating Digital Resilience report stems from an independent survey across 13 industries, with respondents unaware of SUSE’s sponsorship.
