ASUSTOR has unveiled the availability of the Lockerstor 24R Pro Gen2 (AS7224RDX), a premium rackmount NAS engineered for enterprise and multi-user environments. This high-end system combines a 24-bay chassis with AMD’s Ryzen 7 Pro 7745 processor—a Zen 4 architecture chip boasting 8 cores, 16 threads, a 3.8 GHz base frequency, and boost speeds of up to 5.3 GHz—to deliver robust performance for virtualization, container workloads, and intensive shared storage demands.

The ASUSTOR Lockerstor 24R Pro Gen2 (AS7224RDX) is tailored for large enterprises and data centers in need of high-capacity, scalable shared storage equipped with built-in data protection and redundancy. It is equally well-suited for virtualization and high-performance computing tasks, including containerized environments and deployments with VMware, Citrix, and Hyper-V platforms.
Its versatile RAID configurations, high-speed networking capabilities, PCIe expansion support, and NVMe compatibility also make it an excellent fit for video production and media workflows. Additionally, it caters to database management and big data applications that rely on enhanced throughput and multi-user access. The platform further enables secure backup and long-term data preservation through features like MyArchive cold backup, Snapshot Center, Cloud Backup Center, and DataSync Center—while also being PQC-ready to address future quantum computing risks.

Out of the box, the unit comes with 16GB of DDR5-4800 ECC memory, expandable to a maximum of 192GB across four slots—an essential specification for demanding business scenarios where error correction and ample memory pools are critical. It also includes a 32GB SATA DOM for reliable boot performance. For storage flexibility, the system offers 24 drive bays (supporting 3.5-inch SATA HDDs, 2.5-inch SATA HDDs/SSDs), one M.2 2280 NVMe slot running over PCIe 5.0 x4 (for cache or faster primary storage), and support for RAID 50 and RAID 60 configurations—striking a balance between performance, storage capacity, and protection against drive failures.
In terms of connectivity, the NAS features dual 10GbE and dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, with support for link aggregation and SMB multichannel to optimize data transfer speeds. It also includes PCIe Gen5 x8 and x4 expansion slots, allowing for upgrades to faster 25GbE, 40GbE, or 50GbE networking, as well as SAS expansion. ASUSTOR notes that the system can scale up to a total of 40 drive bays when paired with its Xpanstor 12R expansion unit, enabling storage capacity to exceed one petabyte for large-scale enterprise needs.
To ensure continuous operation and minimize downtime, the Lockerstor 24R Pro Gen2 is equipped with dual redundant 550W 80 PLUS Platinum power supplies and four 60mm cooling fans for efficient heat dissipation. It also comes with a five-year warranty for added peace of mind. On the software front, the system offers comprehensive data protection and virtualization support, including snapshot functionality, cloud backup options, and encryption capabilities, along with four USB-A 5Gbps ports and one HDMI interface for service and peripheral connectivity.
