SK Hynix and NVIDIA have sealed a multi-year strategic partnership to jointly develop cutting-edge memory solutions for NVIDIA GPU servers, edge RTX Spark workstations and Jetson robotic devices. Meanwhile, SK Hynix will adopt NVIDIA software tools to build semiconductor fab digital twins and optimize automated manufacturing via intelligent robots.
Both firms aim to accelerate next-gen memory development to support booming global AI factory construction. As one of NVIDIA’s three core HBM suppliers alongside Samsung and Micron, SK Hynix provides high-bandwidth memory for Blackwell GPU platforms and upcoming Vera Rubin HBM4 accelerators. Notably, Samsung and Micron have no equivalent comprehensive strategic deals with NVIDIA.
Chey Tae-Won, Chairman of SK Group, commented: “This long-anticipated partnership deepens our years-long collaboration with NVIDIA. We will co-create next-generation memory tailored for AI factories, and leverage AI to upgrade semiconductor chip design and manufacturing processes, jointly shaping future AI infrastructure.”
The agreement elevates their relationship from a pure component supply deal to a full strategic alliance between SK Group and NVIDIA. Both sides will co-build future AI factories, and SK Hynix will share its full memory technology roadmap with NVIDIA. SK Group plans to launch a gigawatt-scale AI factory in South Korea next year.
Beyond Vera Rubin AI supercomputers, SK Hynix will co-develop dedicated memory products covering NVIDIA’s full product portfolio, including Vera CPUs, RTX Spark edge PCs and Jetson Thor robotic computing platforms, helping the firm expand into personal AI and physical AI markets.
Jensen Huang, Founder and CEO of NVIDIA, stated: “AI factories drive the next industrial revolution, and high-performance memory is critical to their overall performance. SK Hynix has long been a vital memory supplier for our AI platforms. Our joint efforts will advance next-gen memory technology and fuel global AI infrastructure expansion, covering large-scale model training, agentic AI and physical robotic AI.”
During a press conference, Huang added that the era of physical AI has officially arrived, and South Korea leads global readiness for robotic AI development.
The new alliance is likely to include a long-term memory supply agreement. The partnership supports stable supply of advanced memory chips, covering lengthy R&D cycles, sophisticated fabrication processes and heavy capital investments required for global AI factory deployment. Though NVIDIA will offer financial support for SK Hynix’s manufacturing expansion, the two parties have not disclosed specific chip supply volumes.
SK Hynix leverages NVIDIA CUDA-X libraries and AI tools to accelerate semiconductor simulation workflows, including TCAD and computational lithography. Combined with PhysicsNeMo framework, these tools greatly boost efficiency of internal simulation codes and AI physics computing tasks. This cooperation also lays the groundwork for tripartite collaboration between chipmakers, NVIDIA and mainstream EDA vendors.
Furthermore, SK Hynix builds fully functional fab digital twins powered by NVIDIA Omniverse and OpenUSD pipelines, constructing 3D virtual factory environments to simulate and optimize complicated semiconductor production flows. It adopts NVIDIA cuOpt and Metropolis platforms to optimize autonomous robot scheduling and on-site production asset management inside fabs.
Both companies are also integrating digital twin systems with legacy manufacturing software and agentic AI workflows, enabling intelligent AI agents to analyze massive fab data, automate repetitive production tasks and optimize overall manufacturing decision-making.
