Panzura’s newly launched Nexus solution delivers its native unstructured file metadata and user permission records to Azure Copilot in standardized Microsoft Graph format. The integration allows end users to conduct conversational AI queries and securely access Panzura-stored files.
CloudFS serves as Panzura’s core file system built upon object storage architecture, supporting real-time data collaboration for distributed global teams. It is equipped with a unified global namespace, centralized metadata repository, distributed file locking mechanisms and Cloud Mirroring technology. In mid-2024, Panzura finalized the acquisition of Moonwalk Universal together with its enterprise data management software. The platform monitors multi-vendor unstructured file and object data across on-premises infrastructure and public cloud environments. At the time of acquisition, Panzura stated that Moonwalk’s technology would lay a solid foundation for AI-oriented data infrastructure, empowering enterprises to leverage artificial intelligence within their own IT ecosystems. As anticipated, the acquired technology has become the fundamental framework behind the Nexus product.

Powered by Microsoft 365 Copilot, Nexus enables users to input natural-language inquiries, explore contextual information across millions of files, and derive actionable business intelligence. The solution strictly inherits the original security protocols and access control rules of the existing file environment.
Built on an event-driven architecture, Nexus instantly processes metadata whenever files are added, deleted or modified. Valid data is then transmitted to Copilot through a dedicated Microsoft Graph connector. This mechanism allows Copilot’s Large Language Models (LLMs) to analyze CloudFS data seamlessly, eliminating the need for complex extract, transform and load (ETL) pipelines. Meanwhile, CloudFS access permissions are fully synchronized to Copilot, ensuring users can only view files within their authorized scope.
The Graph connector continuously captures real-time file activities, including content updates, metadata adjustments, ACL permission modifications, file renaming and directory changes. This keeps Copilot consistently synchronized with the dynamic CloudFS file system.
Enterprise administrators can customize ingestion policies on the Nexus platform. The system automatically executes predefined rules without additional middleware deployment or independent data lake construction. It enforces real-time permission validation, ensuring AI access complies with the latest file system governance policies.

An intuitive dashboard visualizes the entire ingestion workflow for administrators. It monitors real-time upload speeds, total object quantities and storage capacities, and supports multi-dimensional filtering based on policy rules, file formats, user IDs and time ranges.
For enterprises deploying Panzura CloudFS on Microsoft Azure, Nexus builds a complete Microsoft-native AI data pipeline without relying on third-party AI infrastructure.
Looking ahead, Copilot Studio-based intelligent agents will gain identical permission-restricted access to CloudFS files for logical reasoning and data analysis. All ingested Nexus data can be directly used as knowledge bases for customized Copilot Studio agents, officially released Microsoft 365 Agent Store applications, and automated agentic AI workflows.
Panzura plans to expand Nexus compatibility to third-party file systems beyond its proprietary CloudFS. The extended functionality will deliver consistent real-time change capture, permission synchronization and trusted data pipelines for Microsoft Copilot across heterogeneous storage environments.
