Object First corrals Ootbi backup boxes with Fleet Manager

Object First has officially rolled out its brand-new Fleet Manager, a management tool that enables users to supervise and govern distributed Ootbi backup appliance sites via one unified dashboard.

The Ootbi appliance serves as an immutable object storage destination tailored for Veeam backup workloads, equipped with an SSD ingestion cache and disk-based storage backend. Object First offers three appliance variants with storage capacities of 20TB, 40TB and 432TB. The flagship 432TB model can deliver ingestion speeds of up to 8 GB/s within a four-node cluster configuration. As a secure cloud-native control plane service, Fleet Manager is purpose-built for monitoring geographically scattered Object First deployments. It maintains the data immutability of Ootbi appliances while facilitating encrypted remote access, centralized asset visualization and real-time operational monitoring.

Fleet Manager equips enterprises with comprehensive oversight and control to safeguard Veeam backup datasets. Object First explained: "Fleet Manager consolidates the supervision of all Ootbi clusters into one platform. Notably, the service never processes or touches backup data, ensuring complete data immutability at all times."

The core capabilities of Fleet Manager are listed as follows:

Centralized fleet view: The consolidated dashboard supports the monitoring of multi-cluster deployment status, storage usage and hardware operating conditions. Users can also receive system-wide alerts from built-in services such as Object First Honeypot.
Secure remote access: This zero-trust cloud service cuts down extra operational expenses, requiring no additional hardware or software deployment to realize safe remote connection.
Cluster operations management: Featuring multi-tenant visibility, the tool helps enterprises and service providers securely oversee multiple client environments, and clearly identify system outages, resource overconsumption and potential cyber threats.

Developed in compliance with CISA’s Secure-by-Design development guidelines, Fleet Manager is available at no additional charge for all Object First customers with valid active support contracts.
