MinIO goes to Saudi Arabia to build HUMAIN AI data fabric

MinIO is partnering with Saudi Arabia’s sovereign‑wealth fund‑backed HUMAIN to deliver the data foundation for its sovereign Saudi AI Stack, which builds an operating system focused on enterprise intelligence.

MinIO and HUMAIN hold the view that AI’s future will not hinge on standalone models or siloed applications. Success will rely on unified platforms merging infrastructure, compute, data, memory, models, agents and intelligent applications within one cohesive operating ecosystem. MinIO will supply the underlying data layer for this joint initiative.

HUMAIN CEO Tareq Amin commented: “AI’s power is bounded by its underlying data foundation. As enterprises transition from AI trials to production‑grade deployments, they require platforms capable of secure governance and high‑throughput data delivery at massive scale. Our collaboration with MinIO equips HUMAIN with world‑class AI‑optimized data infrastructure and advances our goal of building an AI platform empowering enterprises, government bodies and developers to deploy intelligent systems with full confidence. Together we are building the data bedrock for next‑generation AI.”

Amin brings extensive global industry experience beyond his Saudi leadership role. His career spans T‑Mobile and Huawei; he served as Rakuten Group CTO starting January 2021, later leading Rakuten Symphony in Japan, followed by his tenure as CEO of Aramco Digital in Saudi Arabia. He assumed HUMAIN’s CEO post in December 2024.

Launched in May 2025 under Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, HUMAIN falls under Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), the sovereign wealth fund holding $900 billion in assets, with Mohammed bin Salman serving as PIF chairman. Aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, HUMAIN drives local AI infrastructure, Arabic‑language large models, data centers and associated AI capabilities.

Both firms have established a strategic engineering and go‑to‑market alliance, naming MinIO as HUMAIN’s official data and memory foundation partner.

MinIO Co‑Founder and Co‑CEO Anand Babu (AB) Periasamy stated: “We stand at the dawn of a fresh AI era, defined less by discrete models and more by platforms that operationalize intelligence at scale. MinIO and HUMAIN are co‑creating HUMAIN Fabric for this purpose — a unified, AI‑native platform built for agent‑driven data engineering. Leveraging AI’s strengths for code generation and data reasoning, HUMAIN Fabric will unlock previously intractable challenges for organizations across Saudi Arabia and worldwide. This partnership is something we are genuinely enthusiastic about.”

Joint workstreams cover three key areas: ‑ Strategic engineering collaboration to build next‑gen AI‑native platform capabilities for HUMAIN. ‑ Shared R&D centered on HUMAIN Fabric, HUMAIN’s unified AI‑native data platform for sovereign and enterprise workloads, forming the core base for HUMAIN ONE, HUMAIN OS, HUMAIN Brain and HUMAIN Create. ‑ Joint global go‑to‑market activities supporting secure, scalable AI rollouts within Saudi Arabia and international markets.

MinIO takes charge of HUMAIN Fabric’s architecture, design and development. This AI‑native data platform serves public‑sector and enterprise users running sovereign and corporate AI initiatives. It forms the data‑memory backbone of HUMAIN AI Stack, underpinning HUMAIN ONE, HUMAIN Brain, HUMAIN Create and upcoming AI services.

Deployment will first roll out in Saudi Arabia, then expand in line with HUMAIN’s global business strategy to serve entities requiring stable, secure production‑ready AI infrastructure.

HUMAIN has assembled a broad partner ecosystem including AMD, AirTrunk, AWS, Cisco, Compal, Groq, Qualcomm, Reflection AI, stc/center3 and Together.AI. It also recently inked a cooperation deal with Silicon‑Valley‑based KORA Systems, developer of KORA intelligent‑PC operating system.

HUMAIN OS

HUMAIN and KORA Systems will jointly develop HUMAIN OS, a Linux‑based AI‑native operating system for enterprise computing. Designed to interpret user objectives, identify contextual signals, select appropriate AI engines and allocate workload execution locations, the joint scope includes OS core, Linux integration, AI runtime, security controls, device management, UX frameworks and application environments. Workload placement across PCs, on‑prem enterprise and cloud resources will be governed by privacy requirements, latency, connectivity, cost and corporate policy rules.

An on‑device AI layer is optimized for Qualcomm silicon. A 26‑billion‑parameter model will run locally on Qualcomm NPU hardware to enable advanced PC‑resident AI features, keeping search context and processing data on‑endpoint. Amin explained the objective is to elevate AI beyond a simple desktop application and embed intelligence deep into system fundamentals. HUMAIN OS is slated for commercial release in 2027.
