ExaGrid, a provider of tiered purpose-built backup appliances, achieved another quarter of solid growth. The company secured a win rate of over 80% and surpassed 5,200 total customers in the second quarter of 2026.
Although ExaGrid has launched all-flash appliances, ongoing NAND supply shortages and rising flash prices have weakened their market competitiveness. By contrast, its disk-based systems have gained market traction, featuring a high-speed, deduplication-free data landing zone and rapid data restore capabilities. This market shift has impacted all vendors offering all-flash backup target solutions across the industry.

In Q2 2026, ExaGrid onboarded 207 new customers and closed 99 new enterprise deals valued at six and seven figures. More than half of the company’s quarterly bookings originated from international markets. It currently has deployments across 108 countries, with dedicated sales and support teams operating in 30 countries. ExaGrid delivered double-digit year-over-year revenue growth for both Q2 2026 and the first six months of 2026, compared with the same periods in 2025.
ExaGrid Customer Growth Highlights – Q2 2026
The quarter saw ExaGrid replace a record volume of Dell Data Domain appliances. Dell currently boasts over 15,000 active PowerProtect/Data Domain customers. While the exact quarterly replacement volume remains undisclosed, a conservative average estimate of 20 to 80 system replacements per quarter indicates ExaGrid will continue capturing Dell’s customer base steadily for years to come.
According to Andrews, enterprises seeking dedicated backup target appliances have only three viable options. The first is standard primary storage repurposed for backup, which comes with high costs, lacks native backup application integration, and exposes data to security vulnerabilities. The second is inline deduplication appliances, which suffer from slow backup and restore speeds, limited scalability, and inherent security risks. The third option is ExaGrid’s Tiered Backup Storage, which delivers fast backup and restore performance, elastic scale-out architecture for growing data volumes, and the industry’s only integrated tiered air gap alongside AI-powered retention time-lock security.
ExaGrid appliances offer broad compatibility with mainstream backup applications and tools, including Veeam, Commvault, NetBackup, Rubrik, Oracle RMAN direct, HYCU, and Acronis. The company will officially announce full support for Cohesity DataProtect in the near future, with the relevant functional capabilities already available and shipped to customers.
Andrews anticipates a strong second half of 2026, as ExaGrid continues technological innovation and adds key feature updates to fully meet the comprehensive backup storage requirements of enterprise-level organizations.
Financially, ExaGrid maintains robust and stable operations. The company has achieved positive cash flow, positive EBITDA and profitable financial performance for 22 consecutive quarters, with zero outstanding debt.
