Databricks lets a Genie One AI agent coworker out of its magic lamp
Everpure Chairman and CEO Charlie Giancarlo — a Siemens, Cisco veteran and Equinix founding investor — is witnessing the largest IT architectural shift since the internet, reshaping enterprise data infrastructure.

At the firm’s Las Vegas customer event, Giancarlo said the decades-old enterprise model of “app-driven data operations” is collapsing. Originating from 1990s ERP systems, this paradigm fractured as workflow apps proliferated, leaving customer and business data siloed across disjointed systems with massive redundant copies.

Though rising data volume benefits storage vendors short-term, Giancarlo stresses AI’s long-term needs demand unified, consistent enterprise data access — impossible within today’s siloed, app-centric architecture.

Siloed systems create conflicting data for AI analysis, while requiring enterprises to share full datasets with dozens of AI tools poses unacceptable replication and governance risks for most CIOs.

Everpure’s Data Intelligence solution shifts enterprises from app-centricity todata primacy, returning data context and governance control to businesses. It restores a unified enterprise system of record, where businesses define data standards independently of third-party applications.

Giancarlo expects growing enterprise data repatriation, mostly on-premises. Everpure’s AI-powered Data Intelligence uses heuristic technology with full AI vendor agnosticism; its canonical design adapts to new AI models, avoiding lock-in and retaining architectural flexibility.

Everpure faces severe supply-side pressures, raising prices up to 40% in 2026 amid extreme component inflation: DRAM costs rose 10x and flash 6–8x. Even low-cost components can halt shipments, causing persistent supply volatility.

The firm is running at record-low margins with no immediate relief. New semiconductor fabs will stabilize pricing long-term, though timelines are unclear. Giancarlo said industry shipment predictability tops only 70–80%, with constant market shifts and order cancellations.

Flagship hyperscale client Meta will receive major Everpure shipments in H2 2026 to support its infrastructure expansion. The firm is progressing talks with other hyperscale and neocloud clients but has no new deals to announce.

Market volatility and rapid tech iteration hinder customer strategy planning. Surging semiconductor costs disrupt cost benchmarking, while software and service pricing will rise alongside hardware inflation.

Giancarlo forecasts a five-year shift: enterprises will reclaim full data and context control while retaining existing workflow tools, which will adapt to customer-standardized data environments. MCP is emerging as a key standard set for tighter governance, though industry standards remain unpredictable.

Databricks launched Genie One, an agentic coworker in its new Genie suite that turns business data into actionable insights. Built on Genie Ontology, it creates a self-improving organizational knowledge layer covering data, documents and enterprise systems. Users build governed, reusable AI agents and apps via Genie Agents and App Builder with built-in access control and cost governance.

Databricks CEO Ali Ghodsi noted most enterprise AI fails from lack of business context, not model weakness. Genie Ontology continuously learns cross-system context to deliver faster, more accurate outputs, differentiating its business-focused agents from generic chatbots.

Genie Ontology auto-ingests and updates knowledge from Databricks and 50+ enterprise platforms like Slack, Jira and SharePoint, building dynamic knowledge graphs. Its OntoRank prioritizes business data like PageRank, enabling faster, lower-cost, consistent AI queries via unified ground-truth data definitions.

Unlike the original query-only Genie, Genie One connects to diverse enterprise apps, generates reports and visuals, supports real-time alerts, scheduled tasks and repeatable MCP workflows, delivering transformative data automation capabilities.

The Genie suite includes five core modules: cross-platform Genie One; reusable team Genie Agents; governed low-code Genie App Builder; autonomous Genie Code for data/ML workflows; and background Genie ZeroOps for automated data and AI asset monitoring and remediation.

Databricks also released OpenSharing, a Linux Foundation open standard for cross-organizational data and AI asset sharing. Building on Delta Sharing’s zero-copy model, it enables secure, vendor-neutral sharing of models, agent skills and unstructured data, supports Iceberg clients, and extends private/on-prem asset access via partners including Everpure, MinIO and Qumulo.

Genie uses usage-based pricing with no seat fees and $10 monthly free AI credits per user. Genie One, Agents and Code are generally available; App Builder and ZeroOps enter private preview post summit. Native iOS and Android apps are live.
