Commvault has upgraded its Cloud Rewind cyber recovery solution, tripling the scope of Azure resources it is able to support.
The New Jersey-headquartered vendor states the enhancement will accelerate customers’ recovery workflows for cloud applications and their underlying infrastructure resources.
Cloud Rewind delivers continuous cloud resource and dependency discovery, alongside automated orchestration for cloud application recovery and environment rebuilding.
The latest Azure-focused upgrades introduce customizable protection groups, which unify application data and cloud configuration settings into a unified air-gapped recovery workflow. It also adds refined discovery and onboarding policies that enroll multiple resources in a single streamlined process, eliminating repetitive manual onboarding for individual assets.
With this expansion, the tool now supports 62 percent of Azure service categories, covering core workloads across compute, containers, storage, databases, networking, security and load balancing. Commvault noted that further feature expansions will be rolled out dynamically based on real-world customer demand.
The vendor referenced Absolute Security’s 2026 State of Enterprise Cyber Resilience report, which found 57 percent of enterprises spend an average of 4.5 days recovering from cyberattacks. The lengthy recovery window is largely attributed to slow, manual environment reconstruction work.
When asked to quantify the time savings brought by the enhanced Cloud Rewind, Commvault did not provide specific figures. It explained that the unified platform for resource discovery, dependency mapping and recovery orchestration removes most traditional manual operational overhead, while ensuring synchronized, consistent restoration of enterprise applications and services.
First launched in 2024, Cloud Rewind evolved from Appranix, a cloud recovery specialist acquired by Commvault in the same year. The original Appranix solution focused exclusively on AWS environments.
Following its rebranding and iteration into Cloud Rewind, the tool added support for Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure. While AWS retains the solution’s most comprehensive coverage, Commvault expanded its partnership with Google in January, extending joint collaboration for flagship tools including Air Gap Protect and Cloud Rewind.
