Scality has officially launched ARTESCA+ Veeam HA, a refined unified software appliance that consolidates the Veeam Data Platform and Scality ARTESCA object storage into a singular hardware ecosystem. Upgraded from its original single-node setup, the solution adopts a redundant multi-node architecture with high availability, delivering an all-in-one backup and disaster recovery system tailored for mid-sized businesses.

This iteration features deep native integration with the Veeam Software Appliance and its inherent high-availability mechanisms. Scality implements a unique triple-high-availability mechanism that covers application, database and storage tiers. The stacked redundancy ensures uptime for Veeam’s data services, robust protection for Veeam configuration databases, and fault-tolerant distributed storage powered by ARTESCA. All functional modules operate on converged hardware, removing dependencies on third-party plugins and auxiliary infrastructure.
The converged infrastructure eliminates single points of failure to guarantee business continuity. The system can sustain ongoing workloads seamlessly even when one node fails. Supporting a flexible capacity range from 50TB up to 10PB, the platform meets standard mid-market backup demands while offering scalable expansion paths for large-scale enterprise environments.

The product upgrade comes amid a sharp rise in ransomware targeting backup repositories. Since malicious actors frequently prioritize backup assets for data hijacking, immutable and untamable data copies have become indispensable for reliable post-attack recovery.
Purpose-built for backup workloads, the ARTESCA storage layer enforces data immutability via S3 Object Lock. Any data ingested under compliance mode remains unmodifiable and undeletable throughout the retention term, regardless of user or administrator permissions. This hardening mechanism effectively blocks malicious data encryption and unauthorized tampering.
The solution also adopts a zero-trust security paradigm, mandating mandatory authentication for every access request to limit system exposure. Scality’s proprietary CORE5 security framework strengthens protection across API endpoints and underlying physical infrastructure, significantly cutting down potential breach entry points.

ARTESCA+ Veeam HA is distributed through Scality’s global partner network, compatible with mainstream x86 servers manufactured by Supermicro, HPE, Lenovo, Cisco and Dell. The bundled $100,000 cyber guarantee is applicable for customers who enable ARTESCA’s immutable storage protection features.
