Rackspace Technology and AMD have signed a memorandum of understanding to form a multi-year strategic alliance, focusing on tailored enterprise AI infrastructure for regulated institutions and sovereign workload deployments.
The partnership revolves around a next-generation Enterprise AI Cloud, purpose-built for mission-critical AI scenarios with strict security, governance, compliance and accountability requirements. This integrated stack combines AMD Instinct GPUs and AMD EPYC CPUs with Rackspace’s fully managed operational framework. It targets enterprises that cannot adopt generic GPU leasing or unmanaged public cloud infrastructure for production-grade AI workloads.
Both firms point out that numerous enterprises are transitioning AI from experimental trials to formal production, yet they face tough operational hurdles covering infrastructure integration, data protection, governance, performance tuning and traceable accountability. Most current solutions require hourly GPU rental, forcing businesses to bear the bulk of infrastructure deployment and daily operational burdens independently.

The two parties propose an advanced managed paradigm, embedding dedicated AMD compute hardware within a compliant enterprise operational system. Under this framework, Rackspace takes charge of full-stack operations, ranging from underlying silicon and accelerated compute to inference services, intelligent agents and ongoing production technical support.
As enterprise AI moves into formal production stages, Rackspace and AMD regard data trust and operational accountability as core priorities. Compliance mechanisms for regulated industries must be inherently built into infrastructure rather than retrofitted after deployment. AMD will deliver robust compute foundations via Instinct GPU accelerators and EPYC processors, empowering high-performance, energy-efficient and scalable AI workloads within private and compliance-bound environments.
Four Core Capabilities of the AI Stack
This collaboration enables Rackspace to build a refined enterprise AI ecosystem anchored in four interconnected modules: Enterprise AI Cloud, Enterprise Inference Engine, Inference as a Service, and Bare Metal AMD Instinct.
The proposed Enterprise AI Cloud delivers fully managed private and hybrid AI environments, powered by AMD Instinct GPUs and EPYC CPUs alongside Rackspace’s compliant operational protocols. Rackspace undertakes stack integration, deployment and daily operation for enterprises with strict sovereignty, compliance and accountability demands.

The Enterprise Inference Engine functions as a context-aware runtime layer, retaining domain expertise, session records and enterprise-specific data across repeated queries. It stabilizes output quality for AI agents and large language models in production scenarios. Rackspace maintains service-level commitments for availability, scaling capability and consistent performance, while enabling enterprises to utilize private data with complete audit trails and transparent cost control.
Inference as a Service provides reserved, managed AMD Instinct GPU resources, paired with developer-friendly tools for inference and model fine-tuning. Customers retain ownership of their models and in-house engineering teams, while Rackspace manages bare-metal GPU resources, hardware maintenance, daily operation and performance SLA guarantees.
Bare Metal AMD Instinct offers exclusive high-performance compute resources for businesses requiring physical isolation, stable performance and direct hardware access to handle intensive model training and inference tasks.
Unified Operator for Compliant AI Infrastructure
These four integrated capabilities provide enterprises with a single accountable operator covering the entire AI infrastructure lifecycle. Rackspace oversees the full stack, including bare-metal compute, development toolchains, inference runtime and compliant cloud architecture.
The collaboration aims to match diverse workloads with customized tiers of data sovereignty, compliance standards, performance metrics and operational oversight. This MOU lays a solid foundation for Rackspace and AMD to jointly develop managed enterprise AI infrastructure, catering to regulated organizations and sovereign workloads that demand end-to-end accountability in production AI environments.
