Equipped with the same Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 470 chip as the 14-inch Pro 7 AMD variant, the Pro 5 16 has two key tradeoffs: slower DDR5-5600 memory (vs LPDDR5x-8533 on smaller models) and a larger 16-inch chassis. In UL Procyon AI tests, the Pro 5 16 scored 91 in CPU-based AI vision tasks, outperforming the 14-inch AMD Pro 7 but lagging behind Intel models. Its Radeon 890M GPU scored 214, slightly ahead of the Intel Pro 7 14 but behind other rivals, constrained by slower system memory. It ranked last in LLM AI text generation due to high bandwidth reliance, with mid-range Stable Diffusion 1.5 image generation performance and weaker output on the more demanding SDXL model.
For general productivity, it achieved a strong PCMark 10 overall score of 8,268, delivering top-tier office and content creation capability. It claimed the highest Geekbench 6 single-core score (2,989) in the group, with marginally lower multi-core performance than competitors.

Battery Life
In PCMark 10 Modern Office testing, the Pro 5 16 achieved a 15-hour 22-minute runtime — the shortest among the four test models, 4+ hours less than the 14-inch AMD variant and over 10 hours shorter than Intel alternatives.
